Optofluidics integrates the fields of optics and microfluidics, providing novel functionalities with optical and fluidic property manipulations on the micro/nano meter scale. This book introduces the fundamentals and state-of-art for optofluidic technology and optofluidic devices, as well as its applications in biophysical analysis and detection. It covers the basic design principle and fabrication of optofluidic devices such as lens, grating and prism. It does not only demonstrate the optical property control with fluid manipulation, but also the optically driven fluids, such as laser induced jets, bubbles and nanodroplets in an optofluidic chip. The applications of optofluidic technology are highlighted in biophysical detection and analysis such as cell refractometer and bacteriophage detection.
