Roles have moved away from physical handling toward monitoring, exception handling, and judgment exercised alongside machines. This book traces that shift, then examines what it costs workers in cognitive load and in psychological safety eroded by continuous performance monitoring. Later chapters turn to what organizations can do, setting out competency-based learning pathways for workers whose skills no longer match the facility around them, and examining the four generations now sharing the warehouse floor, with a full chapter devoted to Generation Z expectations around flexibility and purpose.
