An integrated design approach to ANNs for pattern recognition applications, investigating three topics of the system design methodology, including several model definitions, architectural descriptions and hardware implementations. Following an overview, engineering applications of ANNs to fuzzy clustering, speech recognition, classification and pattern recognition are covered. Aimed at researchers and graduate engineers working in the area of VLSI circuit and system design, as well as for reference on senior undergraduate level courses on parallel neural computing and VLSI system applications, David Zhangs book will prove useful to understanding this new and exciting discipline.
1. A ANNs System Engineering book; a book in the new discipline of ANNs System Engineering spawned in the field of Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) which has witnessed an exponential growth over the past ten years. 2. An integrated design approach to ANNs for pattern recognition applications covering three topics of the system design methodology, including several model definitions, architectural descriptions and hardware implementations. Engineering applications of ANNs to fuzzy clustering, speech recognition, classification and pattern recognition are covered. 3. This book presents a system design methodology of Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) for pattern recognition applications. The methodology emphasizes a coordination between model definition, architectural description, and hardware implementation. Depending on the different pattern recognition applocations, the methodology provides appropriate ANN models suited to parallel/pipeline processing, mapping the models onto the corresponding VLSI architectures, and finally VLSI implementation.
