This is a proceedings of the International Conference on Sponge Science held in Otsu, Japan in 1996. Sponge scientists have organized International Conferences every few years and experts from all over the world gather at the conferences. Fossil and Recent Sponges published by Springer-Verlag in 1991 was one of the book from the conference.

This book presents the most-up-to-date information on all areas of sponge research currently available
