Beschreibung

‘Good morning, everyone, and welcome to our livestream on this mild September morning. Today is the first day of the second phase of our town project.’ This is the beginning of book 3/1, arrivals & shaping. The first day alone is packed with encounters of all colours and vibes, allowing the reader to dive straight into the heart of the town project and also into the hearts of some of the main characters. Two weeks later, members from the international teams arrive and add yet more layers to the project and to the connections within the team. By October all teams ride the waves of enthusiasm, rethinking, shaping and creativity. Highlights are the Yards complex, the Roof Gardens and the stunning town library, the purposefully composed town layout, the contemplations about tourism and community, and Halloween. A project like this doesn’t go unnoticed and both interested people and the opposition allow for some comical and sharp dialogues, placing the project ideas again into the broader context of the outside world. As this book reaches its final pages, some might already sense that the wind is changing, and that some things which have been brewing in the background are about to bubble up. Charlie Alice Raya
Charlie Alice Raya
explorer, creator, author & photographer
born in 1972 in the then divided city of Berlin. Charlie Alice Raya writes explorative and Make it happen stories. The easy town books (book 1-12) are an exploration into what kind of environment the human needs to thrive and that while restoring and coexisting with nature. The basis of this thought experiment is a town which is planned, built and eventually run by the main characters of the story. Pretty much every aspect of life in town, of human well-being, of business compositions and practices, of education, arts, health, ecology and agriculture are encompassed in this story, alongside with the character’s own journeys. Charlie Alice Raya’s life offers so many peculiarities that a comprehensive background story is difficult to compile. But all the author’s studies, works, travels, experiences and traumata have become seeds for questions which enrich the author’s work. Since 2019 the author focuses on the easy town books, and in summer 2021, they picked up their artistic photographic work again in support of the easy town projects. The same year, the author rewrote book 1, beginning, and completed both parts of book 2, travelling. In these books several ideas for businesses and for more towns were developed. 2022 saw the author build nine websites for the easy town projects & ideas, write an accidental book (the dot.story), and do some nine new photo series. In 2023 the author’s body went on strike, after years of overwork. In September 2024, the author returns with four new books (book 3/1, shaping, arrivals & shaping, book 3/2, entanglements & then there was silence, book 4/1, building, campaigns & getting started and The end of all wars, planet one, the roots of war. Plus there are six new websites and ideas for more: breastless, Views from around the universe, Charlie Alice cooks. 2024 also sees the author’s first serious steps into the public eye. ‘My work is like a bag of seeds. It’s full of questions, ideas and visions which can be picked up, planted, fertilised and nurtured to grow. I dedicate my work to rethinking what might need a rethink, to doing my bit for shaping life on our planet and to restoring our planet.’ Charlie Alice Raya, September 2024 More on charlie-alice-raya.org
