Studies of migration and mobility are a critical component of understanding population growth and change and ensuing societal problems.
The migration crisis that is challenging the European countries nowadays is a big concern not only for the host countries citizens, but a life challenge for the immigrants themselves.
Migration as a topic has an obvious, and growing relevance to all our lives but remains a ‘challenging’ subject to teach as students may come to the lesson with a range of conflicting views. Migration has always been studied from a variety of disciplines, such as economics, sociology, history and demography using a variety of methods. Thus, as a global issue, migration is linked with other topics such as ‘diversity’ and ‘global citizenship’, which are both a focus of the broader university curriculum (UNESCO).
Teaching methods presented in this book can be incorporated into academic courses, and are also recommended for use in training sessions for professionals working with people in multicultural societies. Guidelines and methods can also be successfully employed by individual academicians and professionals who specialize in teaching about immigrant lives and are interested in expanding their repertoire.
