Algorithm A’s convergence behavior is problematic in the sense that different results will be obtained depending on the termination conditions. This fact was not unknown to the members of the Technical committee who nevertheless adopted this algorithm in ISO 5725-5. Indeed, an improved version of this algorithm had previously been published in the Swiss Food Manual. The latter had been developed following criticisms regarding algorithm A put forward by members of the ISO 5725 committee.
