Lyme Borreliosis

Contents of the textbook is the presentation of Lyme borreliosis with special regards to the infectiological differential diagnosis i.e. distinction of other infectious diseases, so called co-infections with similar symptomatology. Lyme disease is a wide spread infectious disease of world temperate zones. The disease is caused by the agent Borrelia burgdorferi. Many organs are involved (multiorgan- and multisystem-disease respectively). For diagnosis a positive marker of the disease is not available. There is no medical technical examination, especially no laboratory result which can prove the disease. The diagnosis is based on the clinical data and the exclusion of other diseases. Therefor the diagnosis of Lyme borreliosis is often based on exclusion i.e. differential diagnosis. Relevant problems are given with view to the antibiotic treatment. The book presents the clinical problematic and the principals of adequate treatment.
