This study indicates that international companies located in Germany and German companies have made extraordinary efforts to make and to protect innovations in the field of electric mobility in the last three years. This national trend can also be shown at the regional European level and at the international level.
The present study deals with the issue “electromobility” based on about 3000 German patent applications from 2000 to 2009, whereby it has to be born in mind that the publication of the relevant documents usually takes place only 18 months after the application date.
