This descriptive contrastive grammar systematically analyzes Japanese and Bengali (Bengali)—two typologically distinct languages belonging to the Japonic and Indo Aryan families. The study is organized into ten parts. Part 1 establishes the theoretical and methodological foundations of contrastive linguistics and corpus analysis. Part 2 compares phonology, phonetics, and writing systems, focusing on mora timing vs. syllable timing, pitch accent vs. stress accent, and the Japanese mixed script vs. the Bangla abugida. Part 3 examines the system of parts of speech, including nouns, verbs, adjectives, classifiers, and interjections. Part 4 analyzes word formation (derivation, compounding, and borrowing) and inflectional morphology, with attention to verb and adjective conjugation. Part 5 describes basic syntax: word order, sentence types, constituents, case and constructions, and complex sentences. Part 6 investigates subordinate clauses—relative, temporal, conditional, purposive, complement, and manner clauses. Part 7 systematically compares grammatical categories: person, number, gender, tense, aspect, voice, modality, negation, and interrogation. Part 8 explores functional categories such as deixis, toritate (focusing/emphatic marking), comparison, collocation, grammatical relations, and agreement. Part 9 contrasts honorifics and politeness: Japanese three layer honorifics vs. Bangla pronoun based honorifics. Part 10 synthesizes typological similarities and differences, discusses implications for language education and translation, and identifies directions for future research. This work provides a comprehensive descriptive resource for learners, teachers, and researchers of both languages. 本記述対照文法研究は、日本語族とインド・アーリア語派に属する日本語とベンガル語という類型的に異なる二言語を体系的に分析する。全10部から構成される。第1部では対照言語学の理論的・方法論的基盤とコーパス分析を確立する。第2部では音韻・音声・文字体系を比較し、モーラ拍対音節拍、ピッチアクセント対強勢アクセント、日本語の混用文字体系対ベンガル語のアブギダに焦点を当てる。第3部では品詞体系（名詞・動詞・形容詞・分類詞・感動詞など）を扱う。第4部では語形成（派生・複合・借用）と屈折形態論を分析し、動詞・形容詞の活用に注目する。第5部では基本統語論として語順、文型、構成素、格と構文、複文を記述する。第6部では従属節（関係節・時間節・条件節・目的節・補足節・様態節）を詳細に検討する。第7部では文法範疇（人称・数・性・時制・相・態・モダリティ・否定・疑問）を体系的に比較する。第8部では機能範疇（ダイクシス・とりたて〔焦点化／強調標示〕・比較表現・コロケーション・文法関係・一致）を探る。第9部では待遇表現・敬語を対照し、日本語の三層敬語とベンガル語の代名詞敬語を比較する。第10部では類型的共通点と相違点を総合し、言語教育・翻訳への示唆と今後の研究課題を示す。本著作は両言語の学習者・教師・研究者にとって包括的な記述的リソースを提供する。
