The evolving temperature distribution resulting from the cooling oil flow inside power transformers effectively limits the power rating of these components. This thesis focuses on suitable modelling approaches to investigate the heat transfer occurring inside power transformer windings via computational fluid dynamics. To validate the derived numerical findings an experimental transformer winding model is developed and analysed.
