he Festschrift features 16 contributions that reflect the philological and archaeological research interests of the Assyriologist Ariel M. Bagg: from Sumerian lexemes for ships and Middle Assyrian onomastics to pride and prejudice in the Amarna Letters and cuneiform tablets in Jordanian collections. Studies explore the role of rivers in Mesopotamia, their crossing, and their representation in the sky. Another focus is on the western regions of the Ancient Near East, including the kingdoms of Mari and Qatna, Ugarit, and Phoenicia.
