Sewing is a widely used joining method to combine flexible textile materials together. The innovations in sewing technology in 20th century with ever increasing sewing speeds led to the realization of mass production for clothing industry. The industrial sewing machine became more robust and specialized industrial versions are capable of working at much higher sewing speeds compared to their earlier versions. The sewing machines have seen many developments to realize the requirements of mass production and requirements of technical textile products. But there are still many open questions which require attention of researchers. Within the frame work of this research, two such questions are identified, researched and possible technological solutions are presented.
