In this dissertation, a material model capable of predicting the mechanical behaviour of foundry cores was developed. This model enables mechanical FEM simulations along their process chain. It is parameterised with several novel test setups, which determine the fracture strength under multiaxial loading. In addition, a non-destructive method for quantifying the elastic parameters of core materials has been developed. This material model was implemented in several FEM simulations and experimentally validated with a water jacket core geometry.
