This book presents an annotated English translation of መጽሐፈ ጥበብ (Maṣḥafa ṭəbab, The Book of Wisdom)—an Amharic-Gəʽəz magico-medical manuscript that belongs to the rich, complex tradition of Ethiopian ritual and healing literature. It is a work that blends theology, folklore, and practical knowledge, reflecting a world in which healing is both spiritual and symbolic, and in which language, numbers, and names possess real power.
