Katja Kölle has consistently and independently pursued her artistic work since the late 1970s, resulting in an extraordinary body of work of great breadth. Her works appeal to the ears and eyes and engage the sense of smell. They also play with the translation of sounds into colors and can be read as both images and musical compositions. Large-format colored mobiles and sound columns
followed. She has increasingly added the creation of subtle audio miniatures and site-specific installations in indoor and outdoor spaces, which she conceives as multisensory experiential or reflective spaces. The essays in this book address the uniqueness and diversity of her sound art.
