Igor Turin has traveled the world documenting professional Jewish theaters. He covers both theaters in the Diaspora and the only Israeli theater that performs in Yiddish. The focus is on stages that preserve Jewish culture and tradition, engage with Jewish themes, identify as Jewish theaters, and operate professionally. The photographs capture representative moments from rehearsals and performances and offer insights into the artistic diversity of this theatrical world. Accompanying texts outline the history, development, key figures, and significant productions of each theater. It is the first comprehensive global documentation of all active professional Jewish theaters. Initiated from a personal impulse and shaped by the experiences of recent years, the project has developed into an impressive testament.
