For almost three hundred years people have been interested in Herrnhut – for various reasons.
In 1722, religious refugees from Moravia settled here. Later, Herrnhut became a home for friends and members of the worldwide Moravian Church. Travelers interested in church history visit Herrnhut as a station along the Via Sacra. Others come here to study in our schools or to work in our businesses and institutions. Many visitors come to our little town and we welcome you among many other guests from all over the world!
This book will help you discover and get to know Herrnhut. We invite you to attend our worship services and to meet members of our congregation.
We are offering four tours to get to know our town. Each tour takes about 40 minutes by foot. You may wish to plan additional time if you want to follow the supplementary suggestions (“Discover More”) or if you would like to visit the museums and exhibitions.
