In "Open Citizenship: Who Cares About Sustainability?", our authors investigate what sustainability is and what link it has to citizenship. This not only challenges the various fashionable and often contradictory definitions of sustainability used by industry, politicians and institutions, but also demonstrates that the concept of sustainability offers a serious challenge to existing political arrangements and thinking. By analysing sustainability as a world-view that promotes dialogue, social justice, equity and a broader conception of citizenship, this monograph offers a unique perspective on the link between sustainability and citizenship and a challenge to neo-liberalist political arrangements and policies. Open Citizenship combines academic expertise with grass-roots know-how through a unique combination of academic articles, editorials from experts, interviews with leading thinkers and profiles of different activist movements throughout Europe.
