This book gives an overview on the building sector in Germany, discusses energy conservation and renewable energy measures as well as the policy and legislative framework within the sector.
Key element is the development of an integrated assessment model (the Built-Environment-Analysis-Model BEAM²) for a comprehensive analysis of building stocks. This bottom-up model provides a detailed methodology in the framework for the European Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) to forecast energy demand, greenhouse gas emissions, costs and many more indicators. This model is exemplary been applied to the Germany building sector in scenario calculations until 2050.
