Print media and digital internet need not be opposites, both can complement each other productively. For modern Lithuanian postmarks since 1990, of which several thousand are known so far, the advantages of combining a handbook with an online database are obvious: The printed work provides systematization and typification of postmarks as well as basic data and facts on devices, design and technical specifications such as diameters and fonts, supported as far as possible by exemplary illustrations of postmarks and postal items. A complete representation of all known postmarks including images and durations is provided by the digital internet database. This publication is twofold, a handbook of Lithuanian postmarks since 1990 as a continuation of the work "Poststempel in Litauen 1918 - 1940/41" by V. Fugalevičius, and a companion book to the internet database. Explanations on how to use it are included as well as histories of the postmarks' origins, which reflect the eventful fate of this Baltic state.
