This Occasional Paper is based on research carried out for a project entitled “The role of Governance in the Resolution of Socioeconomic and Political Conflict in India and Europe (CORE)”. It is funded by the Socio-economic Sciences & Humanities in the European Community‘s Seventh Framework Programme (FP7/2007-2013) under grant agreement n° 266931. It comprises editorial contributions from a thematic workshop on "Socio-Cultural and Political Premises of European and Indian Initiatives in Areas of Conflict Transition and Conflict Resolution", which was organized in 2011 by the Berghof Foundation as part of the CORE project.
