Companies are implementing global sourcing as it offers them many benefits and can be a source for competitive advantage. However, it also involves many risks, which have to be mitigated. Six main risk categories are described in this thesis and then several risk mitigation methods are presented. Nevertheless, the aircraft industry distinguishes itself in several ways. It involves single-source sourcing and a lot of offset obligations. Therefore, the suggested in literature risk mitigation techniques are not sufficient for the aircraft industry. Several interviews were conducted with Airbus procurement experts to gain knowledge about strategies that they are currently employing to mitigate the global sourcing risks. Three such strategies were identified and are presented in this thesis. Finally, both the contributions and the limitations of these strategies are discussed.
