THE TIME WE TAKE, IS TIME THAT GIVES US SOMETHING. It is an extraordinary pleasure for me to be able to show my exhibition at Hartenfels Castle. The city of Torgau is worth its own trip with this castle! In Torgau, Cathy and Martin Luther once lived and worked, and many, many years later, a caesura of World War II took place in this city at the Elbe-river. As a sculptor, I am concerned with the immediate as well as far-fetched history. I am happy to live in a time without wars. Nevertheless, I suspect the dangers that could ruin this achievement. Humanistic values are important to me. Against this background, I would like to present a small autobiography with this book. My plan led me to question my personal development as an artist, and so I’ve got the idea to illustrate each of my years of life (56) with one of my works of art. In addition, I wanted to offer an explanation of the particular works to the exhibition visitor. I think it’s good for an artist to reveal the sources of her/his inspiration. In hindsight, I am grateful for the opportunity I have received to reflect my life in an artistic way. In the end: Aren’t we all on a unique transit?
