It is impossible to imagine human life without feelings. Emotions enrich and endanger our existence in equal measure. It was the psychiatrist Kurt Schneider who used the analysis undertaken by the philosopher Max Scheler to the benefit of psychiatric diagnostics. This book attempts to acknowledge and describe the achievement, which was of such significance for the history of psychiatry, whilst reserving the right to critical comment. The book is addressed to psychiatrists as well as psychologists and anyone working in the fields of medicine and humanities who is interested in the philosophical foundations of psychopathology.
