This literary monograph on the Abbasid poet Abū Tammām (804–845) explores the significance and impact of his own poetic oeuvre, as he is known in this country solely through the first divan of ancient Arabic poetry, titled: «Hamāsah», which he compiled and published in ten volumes, and which was translated into German by Friedrich Rückert (1788–1866), the co-founder of German Oriental studies.
