Up to the present day, taking soil samples is the most important technique for determining nutrient levels and the fertility of the soil. These values are not only interesting in the context of Precision Farming but also, in many countries, required by law to prevent over-fertilisation and intrusion of minerals into groundwater. To reduce the effort of taking the samples, a map application for the Virtual Terminal (VT) defined in ISO 11783 was developed in the C programming language. It is called MapApp. It was investigated, whether the ISO 11783 standard and IsoAgLibSE are suitable for creating a map for the VT. Although the possibilities and creativity for designing are limited as the standard is restricting the available objects, it is possible to display a variety of information to the user. Finally, it was possible to develop a well-functioning and stable map application for the VT that is not proprietary to the manufacturer of the VT but can be used on any VT in any tractor as it is based on the standard. It shows a field, spots where soil samples should be taken, and the tractor that drives around the field. It keeps track of the sample taking progress by checking the distance to the next spot. If the tractor is near a spot, it is assumed that the spot was taken.
