37 years of jazz history. The Zurich label Intakt Records reflects musical and social developments and presents counter-worlds. As early as the 1980s, female jazz musicians brought their feminist protest to the stage. Louis Moholo and Irène Schweizer played drums and piano for the liberation of South Africa. Patrik Landolt, the founder of Intakt Records, visited pianist Cecil Taylor and guitarist Elliott Sharp in New York, when the Twin Towers were attacked. His chronicle of music production describes the adventures of Intakt Records, tells of the stubborn struggle for the survival of a creative minority culture – and also of the luck of being out in the open with this music. A new generation has been running the jazz label since 2022. In this English translation, Florian Keller from the Intakt team adds an epilogue to the chronicle.
