Yanik has found a way to communicate something that intrinsically occupies the worlds of the known and unknown. They exist with the phosphenes in an 'intrinsic grey' area. Yanik Soland
Yanik Soland (*1990) lebt und arbeitet als Musiker und Künstler in Basel. Er hat Fine Arts am Institut Kunst der HGK FHNW Basel (Bachelor) und am Piet Zwart Institute in Rotterdam (Master) studiert und 2022 einen zweiten Master in Komposition und Improvisation an der Musik-Akademie Basel, Abteilung Klassik angefangen.
Seine Arbeit bewegt sich zwischen Bildender Kunst, Komposition, Improvisation, Kuration und Performance. Als Komponist hat er Musik für Theater (Schauspielhaus Zürich, junges theater basel, Theater Basel) sowie für eigene Ensemble-, Band- und Solo-Projekte geschrieben und Video-Soundtracks, Performance-Soundtracks (Kunstmuseum Basel) und Hörstücke entwickelt. Das Hörstück Going To Switzerland von Stefanie Müller-Frank, für das Soland die Musik und Produktion beigesteuert hat, wurde am HearSay - Audio Arts Festival (IRL) mit dem Overall Gold Award und dem Gan Bearia Award ausgezeichnet.
Bei Live-Auftritten arbeitet Soland mit selbstgebauten Instrumenten, modularen Synthesizern, E-Bass und Stimme, unter anderem mit Bands wie MIR, Zapperlipopette!, YUKI, SOLAND ANGEL und ARF. Sein erstes Solo-Album YUKI ist 2021 auf dem Label Futura Resistenza (NL/BXL) erschienen.
