The brochure is published on the occasion of the installation in the inner courtyard of the Jewish Museum of Switzerland. Four sculptures by the artist Fabio Luks engage in a conversation with the medieval gravestones installed in the Museum's courtyard. CHAI, «alive» in Hebrew, is central to Judaism, which attaches the highest importance to life. Fabio Luks (*1982, Switzerland) studied fine arts at Basel’s Institut Kunst and philosophy and Jewish studies at the University of Basel. Luks's work focuses on text and writing. Texts become images, and letters unfold figurative potential. Communication, ephemerality, space and the role of the artist are recurring subjects in his work.
