Take The A-Train includes paintings that were created by Viola Bittl during a 10-month studio grant from the Hessian Cultural Foundation in New York in 2017/18. In addition large-format paintings from 2018 - 2021 and installation views of the exhibitions “Jetzt! Junge Malerei in Deutschland” are shown in the book. "The New York paintings from Viola Bittl tracing where the loose threads of painterly abstraction want to be intertwined again with a questioning about their conditions and possibilities."
