SOFT RETROSPECTIVE versammelt Werke aus den letzten zwölf Jahren der Malerei von Are Blytt. Seine Arbeit erforscht die Idee und das Konzept dessen, was ein Künstler ist, jenseits grundlegender Fragen darüber, was ein Individuum hinter gebrochenen Ideologien und evolutionären Kehrtwendungen definiert. Die Beziehung - und die Kommunikation - zwischen Bild und Text sowie die Verbindung zwischen Fotografie und Malerei sind dabei von grundlegender Bedeutung. Das Buch gibt einen Einblick in die konzeptionellen und radikalen Aspekte in Blytts Gemälden, begleitet von Essays von Chloe Stead (GB), Ravi Ghosh (GB), Tommy Olsson (NO) und einem Interview von Tom Lingnau (DE). SOFT RETROSPECTIVE brings together works from the last twelve years of Are Blytt´s painting practice. His work explores the idea and concept of what an artist is, beyond basic questions about what defines an individual behind broken ideologies and evolutionary U-turns. The relationship – and communication – between image and text, as well as the connection between photography and painting, is fundamental in this progression. The book gives a view into the conceptual and the radical aspects in Blytt´s paintings, accompanied with essays by Chloe Stead (GB), Ravi Ghosh (GB), Tommy Olsson (NO), and an interview by Tom Lingnau (DE).
