Dos preguntas guían el examen del placer en los diálogos de Platón: ¿qué es el placer? ¿cuál es su lugar en la vida humana feliz? Los intentos de responder a la primera han dado lugar a una física, a una fisiología, a una psicología y a una ontología platónica del placer, a la cual corresponde una epistemología del mismo. En cada uno de estos niveles, el ser del placer se perfila a través de sus relaciones: con el dolor, con el deseo, con la opinión, etc. Los esfuerzos por resolver la segunda pregunta han generado una ética, una política y una pedagogía platónica del placer. Un hedonismo real o meramente aparente alterna, en los dialogos, con un anti-hedonismo real o meramente aparente de diversa índole. ¿Hay en Platón una vía para superar esta tensión incómoda y desconcertante? Este ensayo constituye una primera aproximación al análisis platónico del placer considerado en su mas amplio horizonte. *** Two questions command Plato's scrutiny of pleasure in the dialogues: what is pleasure? What its place is in the happy human life? The attempts to anwer the first one have originated a platonic physics, physiology, psychology and ontology of pleasure, which have paved the way to an epistemology of it. In each of these levels, the being of pleasure acquires form through its relations: with pain, with desire, with opinion, etc. The attempts for solving the second question have generated a platonic ethics, politics and pedagogy of pleasure. A real or merely apparent hedonism alternate in the dialogues with a real or merely apparent anti-hedonism of several kinds. Is there in Plato a way of overcoming this puzzling tension? This examination is a first attempt of approching Plato's analysis of pleasure in its broadest terms.
