Applying metrology to experiments in analytical chemistry inspires new questions and results
for-partially-well-known methods. The idea of standard addition is investigated and systematically derived in order to correctly include both mathematically and experimentally new aspects such as the gravimetric sample preparation, the consideration of the analyte in the added standard by
inserting it directly into the model equation and the use of a natural internal standard. Detailed exemples basing on key-comparison data measured at the PTB enable the application of the novel mathematical equations.
