Climate change accelerates the emergence and reemergence of various infectious diseases causing serious risks to public health. They are many and potentially severe. At its worst, climate change could inflict mortality and morbidity for hundreds of millions of people worldwide. A public health leader has a crucial role and responsibility to contribute to the collective response to this global crisis. In climate change, a comprehensive and universal set of laws and regulations needs to be created. It is important that results of international agreements are applied at a national and regional level. In addition, an open dialogue withstakeholders and policy-makers is a necessity. The involvement of the governmental agencies in climate change research is also crucial for the success of the programs. The leadership requires qualities to confront climate change issues. However, the leadership skills should be promoted on all levels with which leaders can forge international alliances and act beyond their national and personal horizons.
