What is it about?
Foreign aid is a complex field. Therefore it is necessary to have good methods and procedures along with modest funding in order to create something sustainable. When politicians talk about making grand gestures with huge capital investment, the effective and long lasting development aid and support often unravels into small fragments.
After approximately 100 years of pragmatic and often spontaneous foreign aid, it is time to take a more scientific approach. In this book I would like to demonstrate how problems can be analysed and structured correctly. Then a system orientated solution can be developed in which typecasting and standardization are important constituents.
Many practical examples show how to achieve simple and economical aid as well as immediate help in situ. The main emphasis of the book focuses on indispensible, clean water and healthy food in poor countries and regions.
The book contains courses and instructions for the calculation and building of large storage tanks. By using good quality concrete and optimal building methods, it is possible to build economical and long lasting storage tanks in the Southern Hemisphere.
