Taking the form of a lavish 18th century
plate-book, Pablo Bronstein produces 83
new designs for door frames in a variety
of styles. The drawn designs, printed in
sepia, cover many epochs and motifs,
from the Gothic to the Postmodern, the
Chinoise to the Turkish, but always from
an 18th century perspective. The aim is
to highlight the theatrical possibilities of
decorative schemes. Many of the designs
are impractical, some are outrageous, and
some more tasteful. The foreword, written
by Bronstein, includes a brief description
of the door, in parallel English and
