This dissertation investigates the planning process of new wired broadband access networks. These investigations include the description of different process phases, mathe-matical formulation of the optimization problems and objective functions in form of combinatorial optimization, and then application of different optimization algorithms / paradigms to solve them. The core topics of the book include: Broadband access solutions, Landscape of single- and multi-objective combinatorial optimization, Planning of B-PLC access networks, Modeling, test scenarios and performance evaluation, Design of optical distribution part in HFV access networks, Some improvements of the multi-objective optimization algorithms.
