The reference material RM 7811-7 described in this paper is provided for the definition of the electromagnetic properties according to the International Standard ISO/IEC 7811-7 for Identification Cards. The purpose of this paper is to provide some additional information to the user of the reference material RM 7811-7 with respect to the following items: 1. Establishment of RM 7811-7 2. Standardization as far as the properties of the magnetic stripe and reference card are concerned 3. Technical description of the PTB measuring system 4. Comments on the PTB test certificate (special test conditions and test methods) 5. Instructions and recommendations for the application of the reference card RM 7811-7
