This "Introduction to Fluid Mechanics" corresponds in scope to the course of the same name, which is regularly offered at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen for physics students in their third year or above in the profiling area. It deals with the properties of liquids and gases, the equations of continuity, motion and energy, similarity considerations, one-dimensional compressible flow, boundary layers and vortex theorems. The presentation of the theoretical and experimental principles is supplemented by numerous examples from nature and technology.
