Understanding land use and land cover change in Inner Mongolia using remote sensing time series

Monitoring land use and land cover change improves our understanding of human influences on the land surface. This thesis is aimed at gaining a better understanding of land change in Inner Mongolia using remote sensing time series in light of China’s land use policies. Forest increase and cropland retirement were found in the regions that implemented national ecological restoration programs after 2000, indicating the influence of socio-economic drivers.
