This collection of texts deals with problems of learning and teaching the mother tongue as the official language as well as the second language in European schools, Turkey included. The collection comes from the EUDORA intensive program IMUN (Innovative mother tongue didactics of less frequently spoken languages in a comparative perspective) summer school held in Antalya, Turkey August-September 2005.
This volume is divided into three thematic sections. Section A deals with the official language policies and their practical adaptations in some European countries. Section B focuses on immigrant education in Europe and its impact in different ways. Section C provides an insight of literature education and culturology.
We hope that the reader will enjoy the collection of working papers and the many concrete examples of practical work in Europe’s classrooms.
