E-Government. Workshop in conjunction with JURIX 2003

Citizens and enterprises demand a more efficient and service-directed government. Public administrations want to meet this demand, but are also confronted with a growing quantitiy of rules, regulations and case law from various sources at international European, national and local level. ICT may prove helpful in this development. New areas of research and development evolve that go by names like "electronic" or "smart" government, e-government and e-democracy. This workshop brings together researchers and developers from various backgrounds and organisations involved in this field: academics, legal practitioners, public administrations, software developers, etc. This volume provides results from investigations and insight into the following aspects of the currently widespread "-"-catchwords in the public sector and government: - Strategies and policies for e-government and e-democracy - Knowledge assets and standardisation of legal sources - Security mechanisms and technologies - E-voting systems - Mobile technology for mobile help and surveillance - E-government applications and case studies
