Design-based research comprises various forms of research processes that aim to develop and implement innovation. Through the use of design-based approaches, researchers endeavour to participate in solving practical problems. This is an important starting point for the design of research processes and programmes. Often, they are concerned with poorly articulated, current problems in vocational education and training, which is significant for the quality of the co-operation between research and practice. This volume considers the variety of design-based research and also documents, with the addition of associated visualisations, the contributions to the AG BFN Forum ‘Research Meets Practice – Design-Based Research in Vocational Education’, which took place in a digital format at the University of Paderborn.
