The Presence is part one of The Assimilation Series - the first document of our passage towards the end.
The end starts with The Creatures, sent by Gaia to control and devour the human mind until they transform into Hybrids, like caterpillars to savage butterflies after sufficient nourishment.
As of yet, there are no Hybrids born but one - The Presence, entrapped within the deepest levels of Dr Kelt's Research Facility, it's mind calling out in telepathic waves to Robert and Theo to free it. The Presence possesses and develops unimaginable and lethal powers, and yet after being fed human mind after human mind its desire to kill is shifted to a desire to save.
Once free, The Presence takes Robert and Theo into another world, the dying world of Tarquin. On Tarquin the only survivors of The Creature's onslaught dwell within the tiny village of Yule, protected by a great hunter named Algive, and the most powerful White Witch that history will ever know.
With the destruction of humankind on Tarquin imminent, The Presence and its companions undergo a desperate quest to save what remains...

My name is Scott Cosby, I'm 25 and am a maths teacher at a Sixth Form College in Brighton having just finished my first year. Before this, I worked as an accountant. As much as I love teaching, writing The Presence and engaging in the world of Tarquin has consumed me entirely - it's a book that I genuinely wish I could have read growing up, and I thought perhaps others out there would like it too.
The Presence has taken years to produce, a concept I started at the end of college during the summer. Since then, every summer between university terms I was either working serving drinks at a hotel or was cooped up in my room writing, editing, or drawing.
The Presence has been heavily influenced by His Dark Materials, The Final Fantasy Series, The Shannara World, and The Silmarillion
