A mid-life crisis at age 25?
A mid-life crisis already at age 25? It’s not supposed to be like this, and Victor is unprepared.
EVERY BEST FRIEND is the story of Victor Loviglio, an unsettled twentysomething who follows his two best friends to Europe. The Big Plan for creative Victor is to go to the ‘land of poets and thinkers’ in the hope of figuring it all, and nothing less than on a grand scale in the tradition of Goethe.
But the Real World reality is that Victor’s desperately in love with straight Luke and unable to cope with his love for sensuous Jane. Nor does he really have a clue as to what to do with his creativity, let alone how to earn any money. He arrives in Wiesbaden, Germany and soon finds himself torn between worlds: Germany and the US Army installations, fantasy and reality, men and women.
Yet Victor is determined to make a new life for himself and checks off his things to do list one by one: getting work, making friends (and lovers), and working out his relationships with Jane and Luke.
It is the mid-Eighties and a dangerous time for this lost romantic. The Cold War is ending but bombs still explode. Victor and his friends are at risk, both from explosions of his own making and those set by terrorists.
The fuse is burning: will he be in a safe place when there’s a blast?
