State surveillance in Canada's Cold War: development from communism to terrorism.
This book examines how the surveillance state in Canada has developed since the end of the Second World War in the context of the Cold War. Analysing the Cold War, with a focus specifically on the 1960s, when the “surveillance state” first truly peaked in Canada, I chronologically looked at the transformation of the war against communist into the war on terror.
In this analysis I considered how people reacted to state surveillance during the Cold War. What mainly interested me was the conflict between security and rights: how many rights are you willing to give up for the promise of better security?
