Nutritional effects on microbial protein synthesis and nitrogen balance in cattle offered low-quality tropical forages

One of the main focuses of this doctoral thesis was to provide insight into the effects of common feeding situations in Sub-Saharan Africa on the efficiency of microbial protein synthesis and how they may be improved. These include cattle fed at intake level below maintenance energy requirements and how quality supplementation of low-quality diets might be used to advance our knowledge of the contribution of microbial protein synthesis to the protein supply of cattle in the region.
