This paper proposes and implements a modified topology of dual stator-winding induction generator (DWIG) with standard squirrel cage rotor. The induction generator design includes a twodimensional finite elements analysis to investigate the magnetic field distribution. A DWIG prototype is developed and tested to verify the validity of this machine design as variable speed wind generator. The proposed design does not involve a significant increase in the cost of the generator, or a significant change in the topology of the dual stator-winding machine.
