Beschreibung

Today's agile business environment requires all participating organizations to be able to react to changes in a timely manner by adapting their individual business processes. Consequently, their supporting business information systems likewise need to be designed in a flexible way, in order to quickly reflect those new developments. Component-based software systems together with service-oriented architectures promise such an increased agility of the information systems. To date, practitioners and researchers, however, struggle upon achieving the required close alignment between the organization's business and IT architectures. Within this context, a structured method to semi-automatically derive business components and services from business process models and other conceptual models is introduced. Through its integration into a general derivation process, existing legacy structures can be considered during the identification. To enable high quality solutions, the approach is built upon well-established optimization methods. Using decision-support tools, architects are guided through the reflective derivation process. Additionally, quality marks, metrics and measurement procedures for business process models are established to form a quality framework which allows the assessment of all business process models used as input for the derivation procedure.
